About Me
I am a degreed, professional musician and music instructor that has had the honor of teaching music for three decades.
I love working with students of all ages and believe it is NEVER too late to learn music.
My love of music started at a young age as a pianist and vocalist working with choirs; eventually directing, playing, and teaching vocal harmonies. As a teenager I pursued the clarinet and flute by playing in the school band. I am fluent in different genres of music and have performance experience in recitals, bands, musicals, weddings, banquets, musical workshops, churches, and special events.
When I was a music student, I felt certain things were missing from my instruction which has shaped how I lead my own students today.
- I give my students reasoning and explanation behind my teaching methods and instructing styles which shapes students into better musicians.
- I do not use intimidation methods in my lessons, as I feel you learn better in a fun, relaxed yet structured environment.
- I teach students the knowledge of music so they are equipped to pursue a career/degree in music or to use it for relaxation and fun to perform for friends and family.
- I develop a supportive relationship with my student and their families, so they trust me not only as a teacher but as a member and part of their family. Most of my students pursue music with me for a long time; some students have remained with me from first grade to seniors in high school.
I feel that my personal experience and insightful structure of teaching make me a unique instructor.
Nothing makes me prouder than to watch students that start out knowing absolutely nothing about music develop into mature and great musicians.
